All Prior Engagement & Outreach

NYSDOT officials have met with community members, environmental justice representatives, Bronx Community Boards (3, 6, and 9), as well as elected officials in 2023 and 2024, and will continue to meet with these groups and other community stakeholders through the duration of the project.
 

  • On October 20, 2025, NYSDOT provided a project update at the Bronx Borough Board Meeting, where several community board chairs, district managers, and representatives of New York City Council members were present.
  • On October 05, 2025, NYSDOT participated in the 31st annual Tour de Bronx event at the New York Botanical Garden to bring project awareness and receive feedback from community members. NYSDOT provided information about the project, the alternatives/options being considered, contact information, and future involvement opportunities.
  • On August 27, 2025, the NYSDOT project team met with the Bronx River Alliance to continue project discussions and provide project updates.
  • On August 8, 2025, the NYSDOT project team met with the Bronx River Alliance to further discuss stormwater management and potential enhancements along the Bronx River.
  • On August 5, 2025, NYSDOT participated at the 43rd Precinct National Night Out event in Soundview to bring project awareness to community members and receive feedback. NYSDOT provided information about the project, the alternatives/options being considered, contact information, and future involvement opportunities.
  • On July 30, 2025, the NYSDOT project team met with the Bronx River Alliance to continue project discussions and provide project schedule updates.
  • On July 16, 2025, the NYSDOT project team met with the Bronx River Alliance to further discuss stormwater management and potential enhancements along the Bronx River.
  • On June 4, 5, and 7, 2025, NYSDOT held Public Project Update Meetings.
  • On May 29, 2025, NYSDOT provided a project presentation to Bronx River Houses Board Members.
  • On May 13, 2025, NYSDOT provided a project presentation at the Hunts Point Produce Market Board Meeting.
  • On April 26, 2025, NYSDOT participated at the Bronx River Open House event at Starlight Park to bring project awareness to the community members and to receive feedback. NYSDOT provided information about the project, the alternatives/options being considered, contact information, and future involvement opportunities.
  • In March 2025, a third project area walkthrough was hosted by NYSDOT with community stakeholders. NYSDOT provided an update on the project options and discussed potential enhancement opportunities, including pedestrian-bike connections, Greenway connections, and enhancements along the river. Attendees were given worksheets to take discussion notes and were encouraged to offer their feedback.
  • On February 22, 2025, NYSDOT participated at the 31st Bronx Parks Speak Up event at Lehman College to bring project awareness to the community members, provide information about the project,t and receive feedback.
  • On February 21, 2025, NYSDOT participated at the NYC Parks Winter Carnival at Soundview Park to bring project awareness to the community members, provide information about the project, and receive feedback.
  • On February 18, 2025, NYSDOT provided a project update to Bronx Community Board 3 Joint Land-Use/Economic Development and Housing Committee.
  • On February 10, 2025, NYSDOT provided a project update at the Bronx Borough Board Meeting, where several community board representatives and council members were present.
  • On January 16, 2025, NYSDOT provided a project update to Bronx Community Board 6 Transportation and Health & Human Services Committee.
  • On January 9, 2025, NYSDOT provided a project update to Bronx Community Board 9 Public Safety & Transportation Committee.
  • In November 2024, a second project area walkthrough was hosted by NYSDOT with community members and stakeholders. In addition to providing a project update, attendees were given worksheets to take discussion notes and were encouraged to offer their feedback.
  • On October 7, 2024, the Bronx River Alliance hosted a workshop with NYSDOT to discuss the progress of the project. Major topics of discussion included the Environmental Assessment process (including the public involvement and engagement plans), the stormwater management approach along the Bronx River, anticipated temporary construction impacts, and coordination required with adjacent projects.
  • In June 2024, a project area walkthrough was hosted by NYSDOT with community members and stakeholders.  In addition to providing an overview of the project and its purpose, attendees were given worksheets to take discussion notes and were encouraged to offer their feedback.
  • On April 24, 2024, NYSDOT provided a project presentation at the  Bronx Council for Environmental Quality Annual Meeting, which honored Earth Day week.
