Crouse Avenue and Irving Avenue
Construction on Contract 4 will begin in the summer of 2024 and will create a new gateway to University Hill. The buildout of the community grid begins with Contract 4 helping to relieve traffic congestion in the city by adding an on ramp to I-690 eastbound at Crouse Avenue and an off ramp from I-690 westbound to Crouse Avenue.
Improvements will be made to both Crouse and Irving Avenues to support three lanes carrying two-way traffic. This will improve access to and from the interstate highway network and key destinations, such as the downtown business districts, area hospitals, and higher education institutions.
Additional contract features include on street parking, new sidewalks and crosswalks, a shared use path connecting to the Empire State Trail, ADA curb ramps, and new traffic signals with video detection.
Work is anticipated to be complete by mid-2027.
