Transportation and Community
Concept A:
This mural showcases the history of Crouse Avenue: the stoops and storefronts of Hawley-Green and the 15th Ward, the busy New York Central Railroad hub, and the iconic architecture of University Hill.
 
Concept B:
Syracuse companies pioneered innovations in transportation, from leading bicycle manufacturer E.C. Sterns to Crouse-Hinds, which manufactured and installed the first electric traffic light in Syracuse, one of the first in the world.
 
Concept C:
This mural portrays the various train types—from the classic1900’s steam engine, to the streamline modern design of the Mercury train of the mid 1900’s, to the late 1900’s Alco diesel locomotive--that traveled the rails of the New York Central Railroad through Syracuse.

This mural illustrates the traditional architecture and bridges along the Oswego Canal in Syracuse. It also pays homage to the historic packet boats that transported passengers and freight.
 
The Salt City
Concept A and Concept B: 
This gateway to the City of Syracuse was inspired by the art deco era. “Salt City” recalls Syracuse’s history as a center for salt production.

This mural celebrates the natural beauty of the landscape near Onondaga Lake and honors the Haudenosaunee clans and their symbolic animals.
